Diet Sleuth Reviewer's Comments
Diet Sleuth is a calorie counter, a no frills variety of nutrition software. Diet Sleuth will track food intake but not the other variables that affect diet success.
The program allows you to enter individual food items from meals or recipes to view their nutritional values. It has a small food database (6,000 food items), but you may add new foods. We liked Diet Sleuth's ability to easily enter individual food items that make up any meal or recipe. The program automatically computes the nutritional value.
No exercise log database or personal tracking features (like body mass measurements or weight calculations) means that you won't be able to estimate your net calorie intake for the day.
Ease of Use:
The Diet Sleuth program is not intuitive, so you must use the tutorial to fully grasp the complicated navigation system. Diet Sleuth opens with a blank screen—no navigational prompts—which is an accurate reflection of the shortcomings of this program.
Help/Support:
A help section would be a welcome addition. Diet Sleuth offers well-written, easy-to-follow tutorials, however. There is also a FAQs section online.
Summary:
Diet Sleuth is an inadequate, inexpensive nutritional analysis program that lacks the features found in higher-ranked nutrition software. The program computes and displays the nutritional value of foods, lets you enter food logs and create recipes. Diet Sleuth cannot help you set and track your goals.
